| Candidate Pool Status: Closed |
The Candidate Pool (Bolsa Kandidatu) is the national recruitment system for entry into the teaching career in Timor-Leste’s public schools, run by the Ministry of Education together with the Civil Service Commission (Comissão da Função Pública).
How Recruitment Works
Recruitment for career teaching positions has two phases:
- Candidate pool competition , candidates sit written electronic tests for their education level (pre-school, basic education cycles 1–2, basic education cycle 3, or secondary education). Approved candidates enter a ranked reserve list.
- Selection , as vacancies arise in public schools, the Ministry calls candidates from the pool in order of classification, matching human resources quickly to the schools that need them.
Scale
The candidate pool draws national interest: the May 2025 electronic testing for the general secondary education pool alone registered more than 10,600 candidates.
For Candidates
- Announcements and rules , competition notices, participation rules for the electronic written tests, exam bibliographies and calendars are published by the Ministry (see the official Bolsa Kandidatu notices)
- Online portal , candidate registration and information at bolsa.cfp.gov.tl
- Results and appeals , lists of approved candidates and appeal outcomes are published after each test round
Qualification requirements for the teaching career are set by the Teaching Career Regime (Decree-Law No. 23/2010) , see Legislation. Remember to have your certificates legalised before applying.
